How to capture a fingerprint — Pencil & Tape Method

Materials: plain white paper, pencil (HB or softer), clear tape (Scotch tape), smartphone camera.

1. On the white paper, Rub pencil making a dark patch about 1.5 inches in diameter
2. Rub the fingertip firmly across the patch so the finger is evenly coated (from the tip to the first knuckle).
3. Place a 1–2 inch (2.5–5 cm) piece of clear tape sticky-side down along the length of the fingertip. Press gently and smooth the tape so the tape picks up as much of the print as possible.
4. Peel the tape off carefully and press it sticky-side down onto a clean area of the white paper. Smooth it flat so the tape lies wrinkle-free.
5. Using your smartphone, photograph the fingerprint on the paper: hold the camera directly above the print, keep the image in focus, and fill the frame with the print (avoid glare and shadows).
6. Save the image (JPEG or PNG). Name the file with your order number and the wearer’s name (example: ORDER12345_Maya.jpg).
7. Email the image and your order number to support@klaraallen.com.
